But 1080 Avalanche got mediocore reviews. The game may have been solid in it's released state, but that doesn't nescessarily mean it's of better quality than SSX. SSX had a better presentation I think, overall better graphics, and better character design, more polygons too, more modes of play, more innovation. I dunno, I guess 1080 is a higher quality game. But what do I know.

but its entierly possible soem people thing realistic is fun... there is a reason they sell mor ecopies of madden than they do nfl hitz! (allthough quality is heavily to blame on that one) my point was for overal quality 1080 is a better game... as to which one is more fun.. thats subjective... and you cant really guage by sales as 1080 was only on the cube.

I don't think that 1080 tries to be realistic - that's the reason I like it. It's quick and easy to pick up, has simple controls and is fun to play for a bit. Even the trick mode makes no attempt to make you learn complex moves - you can sit around and button mash the controls for 10 minutes and still get a sense of achievement.

Love it.

obviously not much! better presentation... subjective, better graphics... either subjectiv eor false... any game designed by EA for the playstation orignaly is not goign to have the visual fidelity of a nintendo made game... period., more polygons... again.. this is a ps2 game we are talking about... inovation... yeah.. definitly different.. ill give you that... i just think most people didnt have much fun with 1080... but its not because its a lack luster title its because it liek madden is ment for peopel hwo are fans of the sport... i dont liek football.. so i have never bought a football game... but rented mutant league football a whole lot back in the day. there are alot more football fans in the world than their are snowboarding fans. i bet if you showed the three games to peopel who where really into snow boarding 1080 and amped woudl probably be better recieved than ssx... there just arent that many avid snowboard enthusiast in the world.

See if got the impression that 1080 was easier to pick up even for people who don't like snowboarding. Me and some mates were playing 1080 all evening one day just because it was so easy to pick up and be good at - no nasty button combos to learn like SSX.

I couldn't agree that 1080 is for snowboarding fans - it just isn't realistic enough.

"It's the subtleties, the eyes, the mouth - 5,000 polygons doesn't really sell the emotion"

Translation "We need more eye candy, boys!" Wrong, wrong, WRONG!

What you need is well-designed games that draw in, involve and challenge the player. Games that are stable and properly supported and well patched. This is where EA has consistently fallen down in the past.

Some of the best-graphics I have ever seen have been on some of the worst games.

I don't buy EA games anyway.

Last EA game I bought was in 1998.

Says something about quantity over quality.

Last EA game I can remember buying was F/A18 Interceptor on the Amiga.

Of course, I've borrowed games like NfS:U from the SPOnG library, but buy? Nah.

That looks suspiciously like F22-Interceptor, also by EA, for the Megadrive. Of course, the Amiga could render polygons at a decent frame-rate.
