Oh it so was fantastic! the graphics weren't spectacular, I'll admit, but the was the game was designed - hudless etc. I enjoyed it immensly, it was atmospheric, actually terrifying at times. It was made by the guys who created Beyond Good and Evil wasn't it? I think Peter Jackson picked them after playing that game. That fact alone goes to show that there was actually thought put into the construction of the game - the main thing that is lacking in most movie tie-ins.

I can't think of another that comes close. Enlightenment anyone?

Maybe if the movie is really bad, the game doesn't have to be.

Movie tie ins are massive money spinners fior the Dev houses. We shouldn't give up on them: the dev houses should be given the time and budget to polish them properly - which would mean the game starting as soon as the film has been cast.

There's no reason movie tie-ins can't be good these days. The lead times are long enough in a lot of cases. Look at the upcoming Terminator 4 tie-in...

Personally, I'm really, REALLY hoping SEGA pulls out a decent Iron Man movie tie-in next year. That character was made for a game and, between the film and Iron Man's role in Civil War, the property's finally gained enough traction for the license to be worth a decent investment.

Fanboy gush over.

The problem is that this is usally under a year before the release of the movie. Not enough time to make a good game.

And you got to mention Golden Eye and Chronicles of Riddick. :)

Unfortunalty the odd 1 or 2 which do turn out good are so few compared to the hundreds of absolute crap that gets released... one of the worst been Bad Boys imo.

Some of them are fairly decent, ubisoft are good at tie-ins. Lets hope they can do the same for Lost.

The only one I can think of is Chronicles of Riddick as mentioned above. Other than that there was the original Ghostbusters tie-in on the C64 and Spectrum, that was just ace!! Incidently someone made a rather good remake of that game and it can be found on www.remakes.org if anyone's interested.
