God I hope they do this right... is that working title from Spong or Buena Vista? Cuz it should be Turok 4 not 5.

Also its a Disney company so I'm afraid they may lower the level of gore greatly. Turok without gore is like Street Fighter without Ken.

Turok
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion
Turok: Rage Wars
Turok: Evolution
Turok: New Game

So really, 6. 5 if Rage Wars doesn't count.

Turok Rage Wars DOESN'T count seeing as it came before Turok 3 and Turok Evolution tells the story of the original Turok Tal'Set. Meaning the real timeline would suggest that it is Turok 4 unless they are going to continue with the Tal'Set story, which then would make it Turok Evolution 2, but since no story elements have been revealed I'll assume its a sequel to the last game.

SWEET LORD IN HEAVEN!!!
i already new your taste was questionable but come on... have you really suffered through all of those games?! i mean even if i was a fan of the comic i would find the games more insulting i think. id rather play a week long marathon of serious sam than anything but maybe the very first turok... and even that was s**te compared to golden eye and perfect dark.

indeed. I didn't even know there were that many in the series. I thought there were only 2.

not only have I been out of the loop, apparently I didn't know that the loop existed! :)

Anyone that can't see the brilliance of Turok 2 is in fact a fool. Turok is the arcaders FPS. Its fast fun and has the best weapons in any FPS.

Turok 2 WAS really good, but all the others just plain sucked almost as much as the Tomb Raider series! There's no need to defend this franchise. It knows how shameful the gaming community feels about it. Oooh that reminds me, I need to take my daily "major s**tting on the pile of unsold Turok games'. Later.

Well I reckon the first two Turok games were good (I invested in N64 Turok2 and a damn good investment it was too) but it all started to go downhill after those.

One of the best things Turok done for the FPS genre was bring in some mad weapons the likes of which we hadn't seen before. The Cerebral Bore is one of the best weapons to ever grace a FPS and has yet to be bettered in some respects.

With Disney/Buena Vista now holding the Turok reigns it should prove interesting to see how watered down it will be, if at all. No blood, gore or body limb targeting and many will bail on this series. Fingers crossed they don't f**k it up.

Timesplitters, that is an arcade FPS. Unreal Tournament, arcade FPS. Turok 2, yes. The rest, no.

Without a cerebral bore, without a weapon that is, if we are honest, a nuke, without a shotgun that actually FELT HEAVY, we would have had no real OTT f**k s**t up weapons.Timesplitters and UT would have been tame. Now BV have their hands on it... it'll be more "Land Before Time" than "Jurassic Park with guns". I sense a disturbance in the Turok force, like a thousand dinosaur hunters screaming in unison and then suddenly falling silent...

Does ANYONE remember the weapons in Doom and Duke Nukem?! The BFG 900! Big was in the damn name! Like I said before Turok 2 was really good and fun, but it's no arcade shooter. I don't think it was fast enough. I mean if Turok is, then Doom and Duke Nukem are too.

Hit it right on the head buddy. It took Halo's grenades for me to feel powerful once more in an FPS. I mean watching the proximity mine sheer off enemies at the knees is something to be experienced.

Anyway the game was gory, violent, and packed with action. Though I have played all the titles in the series (Turok 3 I still have to beat) it lost its way after 2.

Too many f**king morons complained about the save system in the game because they suck as gamers. These are the same people who complain about Ninja Gaiden. Remember Contra? Remember the original Ninja Gaiden? These games were brutally difficult and I for one miss those days. Now I can pretty much run from the begining of a level all the way to the end without breaking a sweat.

When was the last time that you were afraid of being killed in an FPS? Sure your weaponry is incredibly powerful, but the time and distance between saves were so big that it made up for that fact. In Turok three there were many frequent saves... but you still got the super powerful weaponry.

The developers should have ignored the fans and kept the brilliant yet difficult save style. The fans themselves cause the demize of Turok. The formula for the game was perfect at Turok 2. After that they had no idea on how to make a fun Turok game. In Evolution there were some elements that worked, but the game just didn't feel right.

Buena Vista could do one of two things: Rework the formula or go back to Turok 2's roots.

Note: Imagine how much better and frightening Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 would have been had you not been able to save after every 10 feet.

And they changed it, it did worse. Was it the developers fault for giving into the player's (read: BUYER'S) wishes!? No. Was it the developer's fault for making a crappy game otherwise? Yes.

So the fans made the series crappy, yet after Turok 2, the developers didn't know how to make a video game let alone a Turok sequel. Man, your really blaming everyone here and your not making sense. But this I expect.

Pen15 could do one of two things: Start making sense or shut up. I understand your fanboyism, but don't defend a series that's clearly crap with poor writing and even poorer arguement.

I'm saying fans asked for something... and it turned out to suck. Made the game too easy... no challenge. I think it was a huge mistake among others. I wasn't stating it was the soul reason it failed you moron. Gaming is about supply and demand... just happened that the demand was a stupid idea. Thats why that was a big feature the kept pounding in interviews and talking about the game.

I have no clue why you are even talking to me about a game you could care less about.

Turok 2 was one of its kind, a brillant game i think while 'jumping command' was something of a mess throughout the series, still at times i wonder if it was made intentionally that way. It's a sad fate for Acclaim but they could've seen it and it seems Reflections aren't learning from their example.Looks like both franchises have 1 coin remaining, really hope they'll make it.

"Turok 5" is a SPOnGism. I stuck it in at five because it seemed like a nice round number. Heh.

No, Stef and I had a wee chat about it and decided it was iteration number five. We need a title just to pop the images against it. As soon as we have a proper name from BVG we'll rename it.
