It's a worry that people will pour so much energy into worrying about their microscopic differences to others, ignoring the fact that we're all basically the same stupid monkey-parasite running around the surface of a rather interesting planet.

But if we didn't squabble over small differences, all our weapons would never be used. And then what would happen?

I'll tell you. The Commies would win. You aren't a commie, son, are you?

Playing the semi-antagonizing American is sometimes fun :)

Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

My name is Joe!!
And I am Canadian!!!

You're misunderstanding/taking it too personally

No. I'm not doing either.

But if you want to reply to the converstation in general, you use the "Post Reply" button at the top of the page.

If you want to reply to one person in particular, you use the "Reply" button at the top of their post.

That avoids misunderstandings.

I like this shot because you can imagine you can see Doshin's giant ballsack between his legs.

Doshin keeps all his love inside a ballsack.

I love Doshin

Hooray! I helped create a crap-storm! lollerskates!

On the topic of Doshin the Giant... didn't anyone else love that game? It was like Black and White, but not annoying. And lovely and quaint.

Awww.

So, thanks to everyone for defending my country. I know you would have reacted the same if anything was said about anyone elses'. There are no hard feelings in this forum. I say silly things all the time.

Good to hear that the Wii controller sensitivity issues were sorted. But something's telling me that FarCry will be a better game then Red Steel. Just a hunch.

Dude! There's only one truth, is there?

I didn't know it myself until a while ago, but I found out because I wanted to know

Whereas, I knew all along - but you seem incapable of considering that possibility.

as opposed to trying to use it as ammunition against someone when

FFS, will people stop it with the guns and ammunition. It's a discussion not a war. Why frame everything in antagonistic terms?

it's in fact showing that you just don't know what a word means. ;)

It wasn't a word, it was an abbreviation.

Ignorance isn't an excuse. Although, in the same way as every other word, it is up to you how you decide to interpret it. It might mean other things too, but as with every other word, you have to put it into context yourself (i.e. "reading").

Thanks for the lecture. I can hardly defend myself here without coming across as an arrogant asshole. But please be assured, I don't have a problem with ignorance, nor reading in context. My vocabulary gets me by, and I'm doing OK. But thanks anyway.

The thing is, I just thought this was all getting heavy, and could do with a bit of humor. If you didn't smile even a little at "frightens timorous women" you might be dead inside.

Accept other peoples' points and either agree or disagree - what more is necessary?

Bonhomie, fun, good humoured wordplay, satire?

Wow! Go away for a weekend and this happens!

This thread has become a large tangled ball of yarn. I had a hand in that and I apologise. I also apologise to wiiwillwin for revealing the country he lives in. I hope this will not affect the way you approach these forums. I posted in the heat of the moment and should have thought a little more about it first.

For a little fun, this is the second longest thread we have ever had on SPOnG with my post bringing the total up to 97. The longest? DS Selling Strongly In Japan which went on for 161 posts.

OH! So my crap-storm inducing post is only the 2nd biggest, eh!?!?

Twilight Princess is going to suck de $h1t because it's a GC game with forced controller issues which hardly justifies a £150+ price tag!!!!

I apologise to you dr-faulk it's just in my country we have a tradition of making fun of each other. I should of realised that your like this.

Ps: Twilight Princess will not cost £150
If you are talking about tha Wii ...well your geting a Wii not twilight princess, and TP is not the only game on the platform. I don't believe a game that has been in developement for so long by nintendo would be crap, they've been working for a year on the Wii controls and it's not a last minute think, and I trust reviewers that have actually played the game over you.
They say it takes about ten minutes to get used to the controls but once you do they're excellent.

I dout a game that is promised to be by far the best Zelda would be crap. Unless you thought OOT was crap, then you would probably think TP is crap too.

Just how old are you? I knew I blew up when you said 'gay little country', but I was ticked off because somebody else on the forum was being really rude during the discussion, and I guess it was the straw that poked the camels eyeball, or something. I had a feeling that you might have been younger, that's why I apologised if you were.

Anyway, Wii Flying Training Wing

As I said, it was a summation of things. You don't have to apologise. I hate saying this 'cause I feel condescending, but next time can't we all just keep our comments in-line with the topic? Some other users (Monkton) were being kinda agro in tone about the whole thing, and I don't get it. I have real lengthy, heavy discussions with my friends on these sorts of topics, face-to-face over the table, and while sometimes it gets heated (the MGS2 soundtrack is a touchy subject!) nobody gets angry, and I enjoy it because we can discuss, even argue, without name-calling or whatever.

Now I know there are a lot of younger users on here and that's fine, but a lot of people have to shed this protective field that is anonymity and start speaking to people like you would to any stranger on the street. Maybe that way we can all become friends and have a laugh. The thoughts of all these agro-arguments puts me off commenting.

Firstly, you're friends, so you cut those guys some slack, of course.

And while I'm sure we would probably all get along if we ever met in real life. Here we don't really know one another that well, we all have deeply held opinions, and text isn't the best way to get them across. Irony and friendly sarcasm can easily come across as real antagonism. You don't have the cues of verbal and facial expression to make matters clearer.

It's surprising how little remove you need to break down basic human relations. Consider road rage. It occurs when we cut people up driving, but not when we do it walking? The reason is that when you're walking, you can diffuse anger with a smile, a murmured apology, a hand gesture... but these items get lost when we're in vehicles, and rage ensues... I guess the keyboard and monitor are like the car, they separate us from one another, and make it easier to take and give offence.

But there I go, way off topic again!
