Pro Evo 5 Hits the Back of the Bargain Bin

Back of the net!

The best football videogame in the history of the world to date - the million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - is to be reissued on May 12 at a knockdown, bargain price of €19.99, we’ve just been informed by Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH.

Pro Evolution Soccer 5 won over a legion of old fans and newcomers to the series with its liquid gameplay genius. If you enter SPOnG's northern UK office and even try to argue otherwise, you will be shot down in flames by the SPOnG 'firm' (The Spartak Sithee Cock FC Crew).

The game is simply the best. Better than all the rest, to quote Tina. And being the most realistic football series for any format of which you choose to be a fanboy (Nintendo excluded - Ninty fanboys generally seem to hate team sports) Pro Evolution Soccer 5 features more licensed clubs than its predecessors – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Porto and Celtic, plus a wealth of crack features from online play for up to four players, to new refinements to the way the players move and control the ball. SPOnG could go on and on and on about the ball control, the goalkeeper AI, the instinctive shooting, the off-the-ball runs, the sheer beauty of the overall experience. But we won’t - we'll urge you instead to go and try it for yourself.

If you haven’t played it then you really do have no excuse now. Just go out and buy it on the cheap from May 12 and become addicted to 'fitba' just in time for the World Cup in a couple o' months time.

Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment had the following pearls of wisdom to offer: “Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is rightly seen as the most realistic football title around, and with the advent of online play in this version we have seen the series’ popularity continue to rise. With its new price point, we anticipate fans catching football fever will turn to Pro Evolution Soccer 5 to satiate their need for more of the beautiful game.”

Just buy it. Or dig it out from the pile under the telly and remind yourself how good it is. This game is why you felt so tired at work for the last quarter of last year!
