As SPOnG reported last Friday, one of our most anticipated Xbox 360 titles for the summer is - without a doubt - Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, a game which promises to replenish the UK’s rapidly dwindling levels of fun and increase the average household’s level of glee-knots.
With this in mind, we urge you to check out the just-announced official
Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis website. You may also want to tell all your mates to do the same, as once you have played this, you will realise it is one of the finest multiplayer games so far released on a current/next generation console, if not the finest.
If you haven’t yet heard of the game or read any of the unanimously glowing previews which are sweeping the Interweb, then there are trailers and plenty of other little tasters of the game on the site, just to give you an idea of what's in store when you will get your sweaty mitts on the game at the end of May.
SPOnG's take on the game was this: “What Rockstar has done with Table Tennis is simple and genius. It's said: 'table tennis is fun, let's make a table tennis game that combines everything that’s good about Virtua Fighter and Virtua Tennis - but let's make it better than those games too.' And it has, unbelievably, achieved this. And more.”
Get ready for late-into-the-night ping pong battles with your gaming buddies on Xbox Live very soon. In the meantime, SPOnG would advise you to dig out that dusty old table from the garage to get some actual table tennis experience in.
This is because, as we again noted in our recent preview: “The game is both an accurate simulation of real world table tennis and a fast-moving arcade classic. Each player has four attributes: Spin, Accuracy, Speed and Power – and, whilst that may sound overly simple, it is the combination of these four factors and your mastery over them, which determines the outcome of each quick game.”
