Red Bull Announces Breakdancing Game
A break-dancing aficionado friend of SPOnG has just brought our attention to the news that Playlogic Entertainment has announced the signing of a worldwide licensing agreement with Red Bull for the publishing and production of a break dance video game.

According to Playlogic’s release, the game is to be based on the "Red Bull BC One Event" and will be produced for various platforms for a 2007 release.

The game is based on the increasing worldwide popularity of break dancing and will give a realistic representation of its dance moves and actions. Two ‘B-Boys’ battle it off using only acrobatic moves and, as the release points out, “the merciless KO-system in this competition defines the unique nature of the event that leaves only one standing in the arena - the champion.”

Stefan Layer, VP /Chief Marketing & Sales Officer of Playlogic, said, “I am very pleased that a video game will be produced and published by Playlogic based on the Red Bull BC One event. The event has the necessary vibe and mass-market appeal to create an exciting and entertaining video game. This 'virtual' break dance event will complement the annual Red Bull live contest.”

SPOnG is intrigued and looks forward to finding out more about this title at E3. We love break-dancing, especially when drunk, and have many scars and bruises to prove it.

We specifically want to know how the game is to be controlled – whether via a dance mat and/or via a traditional controller. Of course, this is not the first break-dancing game - there was Ubisoft’s Flow: Urban Dance Uprising, which came out late last year, but that seems to have not really rocked the gaming world as nobody we interviewed earlier in a quick survey of SPOnG’s resident B-Boys had either played or even seen the game.

Jeez Spong crew, think you better get on the phone and call Ozone and Turbo (of Breakdance fame) for a dance off. Whatever happened to the cast of Breakdance 1 and 2?

I'm glad to see this game coming out as well as Ubisofts's effort. Things get better with competition. Lets hope this ones a joypad controlled game. I'd hate to have to try the caterpillar on a dance mat.

Okay, whos supplying the cardboard boxes?
