Sega to Release Sega Dogs for DS. Not a Joke

However, these dogs live in a cup of tea. Not a joke

Sega has released to Famitsu information on a new game it has in development for DS, perhaps causing the most intense bout of confusion to engulf the gaming world for some time.

The game is based around the Sega Toys brand known as Tea Dogs and is the latest character-driven franchise to grip South East Asia, selling all kinds of merchandise in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Thailand.

In one of those 'can it be real' moments, Sega's virtual pet game will see teabag dogs compete in 18 minigames, including air hockey, slot machines, card games and rhythm outings. The dogs will also infuse virtual tea with favours, depending on how well one performs in the game.

Enjoy the images courtesy of Famitsu. SPOnG confidently expects Sega Dogs to sell at least two million in Japan. And that's not a joke. We'll bring you more as we get it.

Hi Sega? Sammy? Whoever!

Please ignore the crushing losses you made on the Dreamcast project and make another console to launch in a crowded market. This would make me and my mates happy because then we would have another example to use when bitching about Sony destroying an obviously superior console. Only this time we could also bitch about Microsoft.

Yours in ignorant bliss,

Sega Fanboi

I think I'll wait for the Coffee Cats sequel.

This phrase made me chuckle. Sounds like classic Japanese quirky bizarreness all over again.

At least Sega is trying to add some fun stuff to the obvious Nintendogs idea... compared to the complete carbon copy that's in development for the PSP by Sony called Dog's Happy Life (when you see that game you wonder why they just don't call it Sonyhounds or something).
