Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter delayed on PC

New trailer to keep you pumped for war

Ubisoft will be releasing the highly anticipated squad-based future military shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW) in the UK for the Xbox 360 this coming Friday, 10th March. For many this is seen as the Microsoft machine's first killer app. SPOnG will bring you our considered thoughts on this when we get hold of review code later in the week.

The game will follow on Xbox the following Friday, 17th March, and then on PS2 on 31st March. However, the French publisher has decided to devote additional time on the PC version of the game to perfect it.

When asked about the delay of the PC version, the game's Producer, Mathieu Girard, had the following to say to SPOnG: "The [delay] is to achieve better quality and deliver all the features we wanted to have in the game. GRAW PC is a project developed specifically for this machine, so it's development cycle was different from that of the other platforms." He added that "the gameplay is quite different to that of the console version; for instance the Ghosts are controlled in a way that is specific to the PC, with a much more accurate order system. We shared the storyline and setting of the XBox 360, but all the rest had to be reworked."

And speaking of the all-important multiplayer features on the PC version, Girard admitted "We also had some very ambitous designs for the multiplayer, things such as simulating a fully interactive physical environment over the network were risky, but we are now comfortable that the cooperative mode will deliver an unprecedented experience of multiplayer gameplay."

For those gamers who just cannot wait for what is shaping up to be 2006's best future-war game experience, check out the new trailer (Windows Media, 17MB and Quicktime, 22MB), just released from Ubi. For those sissies and lily-livered liberals who think that war is all wrong and that we should give peace a chance, SPOnG says go play some GRAW round your mate's house (the lucky one who's got the 360) this Friday and then tell us that war is rubbish.

In other Clancy news, Ubisoft has also just announced the fifth iteration of the multimillion-selling tactical shooter franchise, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas for PC, penned in for an Autumn 2006 release.

The storyline is a straightforward "what happens when one of the world’s most famous cities is held hostage by terrorists?" SPOnG imagines that shit happens! Shit set againt a beautifully rendered, high definition neon-lit Las Vegas cityscape no less.
