The Nintendo 64 is ill, call a Doctor

Puzzle game emerges to cure the N64

The software supply to the Nintendo 64 is gradually slowing down to a trickle. The N64 is unfortunately suffering the same fate as the Dreamcast. Nintendo are still continuing to support the console by releasing a few titles each month. All focus is gradually being shifted towards the forthcoming Game Cube console.

Coming soon from Nintendo is an update to the Dr. Mario series of games. Dr. Mario 64 is a puzzle game that will support up to and including four players. The gameplay is simple and should be picked up by anyone in a matter of minutes. Be warned though, puzzle games have a tendency to be overly addictive and the rest of your life could suffer as a result.

In Dr. Mario 64 it is your responsibility to ‘treat’ all of the germs on the screen. Medical pills fall from the top of the screen in a fashion similar to Tetris and if you line up three of the same above a germ they are all destroyed. Levels are completed when all germs are removed from the playing area.

New characters are being introduced to the puzzle series including Mario’s nemesis Wario. The four-player mode will make Dr. Mario 64 an ideal party game that you will find yourself coming back to again and again. Dr. Mario 64 will be coming to a Nintendo near you in the summer.
