Ubisoft has just released new screens of two new Tom Clancy titles due out this coming Spring. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Essentials marks the series’ debut on PSP and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Critical Hour is due for the Xbox and PlayStation 2.

Taking the much-loved, top-selling spy action franchise onto PSP, Splinter Cell Essentials will feature all-new missions and objectives exclusive to the handheld. Players will discover the untold story of Sam Fisher through flashbacks to various missions from the entire Splinter Cell franchise, including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent.

The game is designed with on-the-go handheld gaming in mind, starting where Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent ends and takes players to the years when Sam Fisher was still a Navy Seal. The game will also feature a Wi-Fi multiplayer options whereby you can challenge your friends in Spy vs. Spy Deathmatch multiplayer mode.

The obligatory PR quotes comes from John Parkes, EMEA marketing director at Ubisoft, who says, “Splinter Cell Essentials is a groundbreaking handheld game that has everything Splinter Cell fans love about the top-selling franchise… and will also feature a number of surprises that will allow players to dive deeper into the story of Sam Fisher.”

In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Critical Hour, John Clark retires and passes the torch to Ding Chavez. The game promises to blend the finest elements of the series to create the most complete chapter to date, with a seven-mission single-player campaign and 16 multiplayer levels. Team Rainbow get to travel the world to serve and protect the innocent from terrorist threats from Idaho to Venice, Mexico City to Siberia.

This should all be more than enough to satisfy Rainbow Six fans desperate for more from one of the most popular franchises on Xbox Live. The multiplayer experience includes the revolutionary Persistent Elite Creation (P.E.C.) mode, which give players the option to customise their characters on Xbox Live, as well as new Assassin and Free-for-All modes.
