Zelda: Twilight Princess to use Revolution controller

Mag claims cross-platform sword swipes

Posted by Staff
In SPOnG's humble opinion, NGC magazine is perhaps the least interesting, most recycled collection of stapled paper available on Britain's newsstands. We'll leave our critique at that, given that they read this site (for research purposes, no doubt) .

However, the publication does claim an exclusive of sorts, with news that the upcoming GameCube RPG Zelda: Twilight Princess will have some special functionality when played on the Revolution.

As you'll be aware, rumour that GameCube development of Twilight Princess had been canned, with the title shifting across to Revolution, had been rampant, with Nintendo chosing to end the speculation on these very pages.

The magazine states, “Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console's unique controller. ...when you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring.”

As to what this could be is anyone's guess. Sword swiping seems a given.

Either way, we believe this news to be on the money as Nintendo officials have hinted at this for quite some time – the concept also makes sense, though it does potentially prop open the door for 'GameCube 2' nay-sayers...

Updates as they break.

That's you guys then.

I haven't heard anyone else call the Revo a Gamecube 2.

my suggestion to them is,dump the magazine a set up an independant website.

I've never heard PS2 being called a PSX for it's backwards compatability. I really don't see where they're going with this.

Anywho back to Zelda. I think this is a great idea. It's coming out late anyway and if they dont have the time/resources etc. to totally re-do the game then this is the way to go...

At the same time however, this almost certainly takes Twilight Princess out of contention to be a monster seller and one of the best outings of all time. Why? Because it is a last-gen game released in next-gen time frame. It will most likely be equated with next-gen games and it will probably pale in graphical comparison by the time it is released.

If they really want to sell Revolutions have a Rev version of Twilight Princess (with displacement mapping etc). during launch. That will really get them in the game and into living rooms.

What they should do is launch Zelda for GC at least two months before the revolution (preferably before they've announced the launch date), then launch a limited edition with revo control functionality on revo launch day. That would make a healthy profit, but I would probably wait and get it pre-owned (for revo).

Probably you can uuse the Rev-controller as fishing rod and thats it... there's better thing then just fishing... especially in Zelda... tutututuuu fishing...fishing fishing!

NGC is indeed pap. Now, back when it was N64 Magazine... wow. Not many mags get staff pilfered by Rare (Wil Overton, who does a lot of Rare art, especially for PDZ).

It makes sense that games late to the party are prepped for the next big push. A lot of the Xbox games coming out are pre-patched.

I guess I can't say I didn't see this coming since the game was delayed. I think it's a great idea that will get people buying ZTP, without fear of selling off all their GC games. Added Rev content gives a good incentive to upgrade to a Rev.

Just hope ZTP can sell well next to the Rev, especially with the World Cup on in the summer. Summer is usually a slow period for games retail too.
