UPDATED: Breaking – EA reveals X05 Superman rework at X05

Word on the street in Amsterdam this hazy afternoon is that Electronic Arts is poised to unveil a major rework of the Superman franchise for Xbox 360. Nothing is known as yet other than the game is on EA’s ‘top tier of development’.

UPDATE:

Turns out that the title is a tie in with the movie Superman Returns and the game is slated to hit early next year, developed by the same EA team responsible for the Madden games.

Here’s Steven Chiang, vice president and studio general manager at EA Tiburon with an explanatory corporate statement: “We have assembled world class talent at EA Tiburon to deliver this blockbuster experience and we are thrilled to team up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics and have the opportunity to demonstrate our creative and technological expertise in the action/adventure category. We are creating a game that allows players to experience a real sense of flying, and master Superman's unrivalled super hero powers in order to save Metropolis. Only Superman can meet challenges of this scale.”

From what we can gather the game will take inspiration from the new movie, the old movie and the comic book series.
