When you consider the success the NES and SNES enjoyed with graphical RPG’s, it is somewhat surprising that the Nintendo 64 had so few. Losing the support of Square and the fact that the system used cartridges are most probably the reasons for this.
Nintendo is set to buck this trend with the announcement that Camelot, the development team behind Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, will be producing a GameCube RPG. At present, details are a bit thin on the ground, though it is known that Camelot are producing a Game Boy Advance RPG called Golden Sun. It is rumoured that the GameCube title will be a GBA compatible version of Golden Sun, or another game set in the same universe.
