PS3 Games list trickles through

First news of what games you will be playing at or near day one.

With the announcement of PlayStation 3 still hot off the presses, it's not surprising that news of what games we can expect to see on the console is still sparse. Sony issued this early list, and it contains few surprises. Capcom's successful Devil May Cry series will see its next iteration on PS3, as will Konami's Metal Gear and Namco's Tekken sagas.

No-one will be surprised to see Polyphony's Gran Turismo make a next gen outing, but they might be surprised in they finally manage to get network play in there. It's unlikely that the game, which will undoubtedly be gorgeous to look at, will sell in sufficient numbers if they do not.

In-house dev teams will be hoping to make voice recognition as big a smash with PYEdentify as motion capture was with EyeToy.

The list will surely grow in the coming weeks and months, but for now here's what's on offer...

Devil May Cry 4 - Capcom
Fifth Phantom Saga - Sega
Formula One - Sony Liverpool
Heavenly Sword - Sony
Killing Day - Ubisoft
Killzone - Guerilla
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Konami
Mobile Suit Gundam - Bandai
Motor Storm - Evolution
Oh-Ni - Koei
"Old West" Game - Rockstar
PYEdentify Voice Recognition Game - SCEA
Wolfenstein Style FPS - Insomniac
Tekken - Namco
Vision Gran Turismo - Polyphony Digital
Warhawk - Incognito

Bit of expected sequelitis going on but I'm sure many will lap it all up. Stil some good potential in there besides though.

Come on, what did you really expect? Total originality?

...and a large, collective yawn was heard by all attendees...

Surely, I am not the only one who has been underwhelmed by the games being shown for the new systems thus far, am I?

so far, of the stuff I've seen, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion looks the best. It looks like Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with acutal environments that look...alive. However, it doesn't look like the actual GAME will be drastically different from Morrowind. Which is fine and all, I liked it, but there has been a lack of..."inspired" games shown, thus far.

And I mean in terms of "do I want to play this," not which game has the best graphics...

So far, it looks like there will be some waiting for price drops, unless someone unveils something truly inspired.
