UK publisher confirms showings via third parties

No Codemasters games at E3? Usual suspects wrong again…
The Internet’s wrong news service is up to its old tricks again, with the usual suspects claiming that UK publisher Codemasters, flush with recent investment gold, will not be showing any games at all at this year’s E3.

This is simply not the case. Although Codies will not have the usual Bedouin tent booth adorning the South Hall, games will be on show throughout the event.

“Just because we're not personally showcasing at E3, doesn't mean we're going quiet,” explained Codemasters’ communications lead Richard Eddy. “We're looking forward to working with platform-holders to have certain titles at E3. We've recently secured a major investment and we fully plan to use that investment aggressively but tactically. Over the next few months we'll be debuting our major winter titles, such as TOCA Race Driver 3, in a more substantial, focussed way to retail, press and gamers direct. We've got plenty of noise to make and some great product yet to announce.”

With floor space at an all-time premium this year, Codemasters has simply taken the frugal, sensible option of not wasting untold sums of its precious gold on pitching a tent from which to dole out press kits, preferring to highlight its games on the stands of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, while holding high-level meetings in its private suite at the show.

LOL. I can't help but laugh at SPoNG's utter mauling of GI.

You mean there won't be a Cosmic Spacehead sequel this year!?

Yeah, because SPOnG's reporting is always spot on...

A quick Google search..

Exclusive: Cut-down Xbox at E3
30th Jan 2003
We have received word that a smaller model Xbox is to be shown at this year's E3 Expo, due to take place in Los Angeles in May of this year. UK insiders are beginning to speak about the machine, which backs up open talk of a smaller unit at the recent CES in Las Vegas. The new machine, referred to as Xbox Lite, is said to be around the size of the PlayStation 2. What's more, the machine will be flat, making it stackable, with a great proportion of the ridging and embossed X being lost.

We'll bring you more as we get it, and remember where you read this first.

World Exclusive – Desert Strike Remake Underway!
19th Feb 2004
Electronic Arts is set to dust-off the 16-Bit classic franchise Desert Strike, we can exclusively reveal today, as part of a new strategy undertaken by the company addressing under-exploited and dormant IP.

The game is in production in the US for Xbox and PlayStation 2 with a PC version to follow and will be a "...hugely expanded 3D version of the original", we were told today by an anonymous Electronic Arts source.

Excellent news, indeed. We’ll keep you updated with all the latest information and media from the game as it trickles through from official sources.

World Exclusive: Daytona 3 to launch on Xbox Live
14th Oct 2002
We can exclusively reveal that the next instalment of Daytona, AM2’s acclaimed racing series, will be released exclusively for Xbox and will have a heavy online slant.

We can also tell you that Sega and Microsoft are working to release the game in mid-2003 to late 2003.

We’ll bring you a full update as soon as we can and, as ever, remember where you read this first!

EA to become nVidia exclusive?
11th Apr 2003
A deal announced overnight in the US sees nVidia become Electronic Arts’ “preferred PC graphics platform” hinting that, at launch at least, EA’s PC output will be exclusive to nVidia, in what has to be seen as further evidence of the evolution of the PC games market as exclusively revealed by us.

I could go on but you get the picture. SPOnG should stick to trying to copy IMDB instead of just giving themselves the worst name in gaming websites.

It's no worse than anyone the industry average.

Except for the lazy smug sites who do nothing but re-write press releases. And this story proves that even they get it wrong now and then.

But only SPOnG knowingly get it wrong simply to try and attract visitors.

So tired of coming to bat for Spong. It's human to make mistakes and if you think every site is perfect you certainly have a lot to learn.

Some pander to softcos with suckbutt reviews for the lure of possible moolah etc, some rewrite press releases etc. Rumours and real news are rife in any industry. If you are that righteous and all knowing Soong then go hunt for what you think the truth should be,
or what you believe to be real. You'll still make a mistake at some point. Get over it and move on.

And give Spong a break.

You have missed my main point completely.

Firstly, I don't visit GamesIndustry.biz (I'm not a fan of it). Secondly, if you're tired of "coming here to bat for SPOnG" then why do you do it?

You think I'm here to cause trouble and troll the forum bad-mouthing SPOnG? Please, read the article again and tell me exactly what they're doing. The only difference here is, I have backed up my claims, SPOnG can not.

The other difference is that I'm merely a forum poster whilst SPOnG is meant to be a gaming site... this isn't news, it's pathetic childish slagging off and not the first time they've done it.

And from reading what's on GamesIndustry.biz now, I'm very impressed they haven't come down to this level to retaliate.

The funny thing is, you could replace "Soong" with "SPOnG" in your post and it would be very fitting. THEY are the ones actiing righteous and all-knowing, not me.

appart from the Desert strike one why is it that they are all over 2 years old???

Spongs news has changed alot in the year Ive been coming, so i dont think its fair to beat them today for bad stuff they did years ago.

and that Desert strike thing.... games take much greater time to make than 1 year so you cant see that its not true yet! Their other Ea stories (nfs most wanted last month) make me think that they have a good source at EA.

EA uploaded the Press Release for NFS:MW to their server ages ago - a little bit of tweaking yielded results to anyone who could be bothered :)

I didn't report until Press Release day, though, because frankly - I don't really care about the bastardised rehash of Hot Pursuit.
