Ubi Soft to see $4 million Canadian gift
French publishing giant Ubi Soft, currently the subject of some unwanted attention from Electronic Arts, has seen financial backing from the Canadian government, with the AmeriFrench pledging an unexpected $4 million.

The money comes in the form of a three-year grant, the application for which came prior to EA’s majority stake acquisition, to take the sting out of opening what promised to be “…the largest interactive entertainment studio in Montreal.”

Ubisoft's project opens up very promising opportunities for the interactive entertainment industry in Montreal," said Saada, minister of the French language (really) in the country. "Beyond its economic performances, it is an industry that builds on the talent and passion of men and women for whom no dream is too big. Economic development is that too: an exciting human adventure."

No specific projects were mentioned for the studio.

Ubisoft - Making a real effort to produce quality titles at lower prices.

EA - Making dog-sh*t in an Amaray case with a Gobbie Williams soundtrack.

Result? Ubisoft needs bailing out, EA sell millions.

Ain't life fair?
