EyeToy expands – Gamers shrink
As everyone know, the main problems facing the inactive videogame enthusiast community is pie, with cake coming in a close second. You see, it’s an issue. Gamers sit about a lot. When not sitting totally still, with only the slightest detectable thumb wiggle vouching for life signs, they’re slouching to the fridge to indulge in some high fat snacking.

You see folks, and here’s the killer: Not doing very much aside from eating bad food makes you fat. It’s a problem we all face and luckily, one Sony Computer Entertainment Europe plans to address, announcing EyeToy: Kinetic this morning.

The latest piece of software for the motion-sensing webcam jobbie, EyeToy: Kinetic will utilise a wider view field showing the player’s whole body in frame. Gym favourites such as Tai Kwon Do, Modern Dance, Kick Boxing, Aerobics and Karate are there to get your blood pumping with a set of other, slightly more enlightened choices, such as concentration and flexibility, taking inspirations from Yoga and Tai Chi.

The title, so-developed with Nike Motionworks, also offers regimes targeted at toning specific muscle groups.

This is a good and welcome idea by Sony, and hopefully will appeal to more than just gamers. Make exercise fun and we are more likely to have a go.

Whens it due out, might invest in one myself?

I'd like to see more of these types of game from others in the future.

I have had the chance to play an unfinished version of the game and it was wicked. A great idea for us girls and also to get our boyfriends off their backside and have fun. I think it is out in January.

I find playing Samba De Amigo, Space Channel 5 and Virtua Fighter on my Eye-Toy are pretty good for this.

January in japan or the uk? Thanks for the info anyway Moony.

Something else to stop the government moaning about overweight kids, but will they notice it once it's out and praise it like they should, as a good gaming alternative?

Doubt it, but we can hope they do.

So they're starting to make Eye Toy into a themed camera game, huh?

Good lord, I don't want to imagine the things some of those poor little cameras have to look at.

Shades of Orwell's 1984 and the Physical Jerks, anyone?

You're better off spending your cash on some running shoes. Throwing yourself around in front of the TV is just kidding yourself.

OR you could play DDR, which has incredible replay value and is not retarded.
