Cool Street Fighter toys that you can't have!

Tiger Uppercut immortalised in plastic

Posted by Staff
It’s been a little too long since we brought you an update of our regular ‘cool things from Japan that you can’t have’ news spots, but today we can’t contain it any longer. As part of the big Street Fighter 15th Anniversary extravaganza, which brings with it assorted remixed, rejigged and repackaged reiterations of old games; has been a steady flow of Japan orientated Street Fighteralia.

A significant proportion of Street Fighter fans will be fully satisfied by the upcoming, Live compatible Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for Xbox (which offers the two most recent SF outings: Street Fighter III Third Strike as well as the recent Hyper Aniversary remake see on PS2). But if, like certain members of the SPOnG crew, there is no limit to your appetite for fighty Capcom things, then check this lot out.

Sota Toys are immortalising ten Street Fighter favourites (Ryu, Bison, Sodom, Sagat, Chun Li, Ken, T Hawk, Vega, Cammy and Blanka) in pure, 24 carat plastic. Standing proud at 6 inches tall, a collection of articulated, poseable action-dolls with these amongst them will surely be sufficient to impress the iciest of maidens. Go get ‘em!

You Spong lot really enjoy teasing us, don't you? These look excellent, but despite you claims we can have them.

If the Spong crew don't put any of these up as prizes I'll be checking Forbidden Planet, who stock lots of good stuff like these. Or just go to a local hobbie store to place an order. Anything is possible online too.

Yes, I'll have one M Bison, a Ken and a Chun Li. (That sounds like a chinese takeaway order) LOL

Its only recently that ive started to get into merchandise of games and these look cool.

I have a few SF fiqures at the moment but id love the Ryu character. Japan have always had it best.

Go on then. Explain how, exactly, thinking saying three random chinese sounding words sound like an order for three random chinese foods is racist. In any way.

Dude, If that Chun Li model was six foot and not six inches, and FULLY posable... I'd buy one.

Forbidden Planet stocks them. Not that impressed, really.

Are these boards turning into GameFAQs all over again? It's like a Yahoo chatroom on here!

Same applies for Cammy... Kylie Minogue would be crowned queen if only she was 6 ft tall instead of 3 ft 4.

Behave Paulie, don't take it as a racist comment because it's not. Why I mentioned the takeaway part (which could be for food from any nation) is because when I order I say, "Yes, I'll have this, that and this". That's all I meant, and the fact that included Chun Li's name bares no reference (not even to her nationality) except that her, Ken and M Bison are my favourite characters.

Now read the post again and understand where I'm coming from. People so eager to play that race card all the time, put it back in the deck, please.

What's your point?

I've only been to gameFAQs for FAQs, and I've never seen a Yahoo chatroom.

But I think the SPOnG boards have a nice mix of inane chatter and serious games related discussion.

I'd have to agree with Doc Dee. We have serious discussions all the time about the state of the industry etc. The novelty cool japanese merchandise bit is just of fun, and fun is not only the domain of children, even where those SF2 figures are concerned. I'm not ashamed to say I possess a few MGS figures and other models like those in the news post.

We are very lucky here anyway. Most forums are usually overrun with too many kids and teens who can't hold a serious discussion to save their lives (no offence to anyone like that here mind). Cheer up and enjoy.

Picking up on that 'etc' bit, you only need to glance at the Outrun 2 editorial thread for an example of SPOnG's deeply educational vibe... http://spong.com/x?msg=6199

Today, I have been totally learned in the way of automobile physics.
