Halo 2 Gold – Game complete
No matter indeed because Halo 2 is now complete. Bungie Studios made the announcement at close of business in the US yesterday, and underlined the retail dates as follows:

UK: November 11
US: November 9
France: November 10
Germany: November 11
Italy: November 11
Spain: November 11
Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan: November 9

The game has gone to print across the globe and will, we are assured, make all of the above dates.

Expect the review in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

hehe, trying not to start any actuall flame style arguments, i am much much much more excited about halo2 than half life ,and not just cause my computer likz bowlz! as to which will be the "better game" i dunno, but i am so much more in to finding out what happens to master chief than gordon that its not even funny. The bungie guys have a flare for a sweepign story that half life just didnt touch. but thats is afterall, just my opinion.

My home PC isn't really that grunty - it's a mini-cube thing in my lounge, with only a P4 2.4, 512Mb and a ATI 9700 Alll-In-Wonder GPU. Hardly an expensive set-up, but powerful enough to play Doom 3. It does overheat though, due to tiny case and the crazy design fature of the GPU being sat about a centimetre from the side of the case! Fortunately the side panel pops off, giving plenty of airflow.

Arg! SPOILER!!!!
I never finished Halo - after hours on two player, I got bored of single player after only about an hour.

I have it on PC and must reinstall it and give it another crack.

Well, they certain have the pedigree.
Pathways Into Darkness, then the Marathon series and now Halo. I played Marathon pretty heavily and, to be honest, the story was really the only thing that kept me going. It's been quite interesting watching the Haunted Apiary (ilovebees) unfiction game unfold, as is sure to develop the Halo back story. Truth be told, the Haunted Apiary is the reason my interested in Halo has been piqued. I am pissed that Bungie sold out to MS, though. Not releasing it on PC at the same time as Xbox was a crime - let alone the unceremonious dumping of the Mac version.

Anyway, WRT to Half Life, the story there was excellent IMO. Now the suggestion of Governments fusing Zen creatures with our weapons tech is very exciting - and what is that huge Combine thing?

i've got a 1.7 p4 with 256ram and a geforece 5200. i can run doom 3 in 640x480 and keep a "livable" frame rate. not good but playable. being as half life is puportedly more cpu intensive than doom i have a bad feeling it would fly.

and not that any one really cares but...

im not trying to rag on the story of half life at all, far from it, its a damn good one. and the cinematics where great in the first one im sure this one will be incredible also, but there is something about halo that just has me obssesed... and the damn bees havent helped matters any :)

i will admit that i have indeed read all three books as well, and for those who havent but have an intrest in the story of halo, the first and third book are actually VERY good. maybe not going to replace "a tale of two city's" but excellent sci-fi none the less. the second book based on the first game is intresting but written by a different author and just not as engaging.

well there it is, my dirty secret, i read them all. and you should too, it makes the whoel thign that much bigger... waiting for this game is like waiting for the third lord of the rings movie was or the last star wars, ive been waiting since the first time i beat it in december of 2001 and to know it is finaly going to actualy be here is one of the best things i have heard in a long while. now if kerry wins the election november will be one of the best months ever!

lupos... OUT!
