Sega fanboys are being treated again today, as news reaches us of yet another revival of an old franchise. This time, however, the usually clamorous reception might be somewhat muted – at least in comparison to the announcement of Sega Rally 2005 or Virtua Fighter 2’s remake. Because on this occasion, the PS2 will bear witness to a remake of the peculiar horror-dictation ‘em up, The Typing Of The Dead.
The Typing Of The Dead has ventured onto the Dreamcast and PC in the past, offering fans of The House Of The Dead the chance to lay down their arms and replace their light-guns with keyboards. If the pen is mightier than the sword; then apparently, the keyboard is mightier than the shotgun. Players have to type out commands to fend off the onslaught of zombies, dispatching evil and training towards impressive WPM counts in the process.
It’s over four years since the release of the original, and the concept seems just as bizarre now as it did then: which is a good thing for Sega, as this sort of title’s appeal really does rely on its novelty value. As soon as information about release dates is announced, we’ll touch type it at you like the trigger-happy news assassins that we are.
