It has been revealed today that Bethesda’s proposed next-gen project is indeed the next instalment in the popular Elder Scrolls series. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, as it is now dubbed, will also be heading onto PC. Although we don’t yet know which next-gen machine ES Oblivion is set to appear on, there’s a good chance the Xbox 2 will get first dibs, after the success of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (and it’s special edition) on Xbox.

The fourth episode will continue along the same lines as its predecessors: gallivanting around expansive fantasy universes fulfilling numerous sub-quests and building up skills and stats. Naturally, Bethesda is promising even deeper free-roaming gameplay and graphical improvements: so RPG fans would do well to keep an eye on this as development continues in earnest.
