A recent article in Famitsu has fleshed out a few details for Siren 2, the forthcoming PS2 sequel to SCEJ’s unusual survival-horror title. Siren, or Forbidden Siren as it’s known in Europe, is styled in a similar vein to other spooky series like Silent Hill, with the principal twist that the player can ‘sightjack’ other characters and view the world through their eyes.
Siren 2, however, will also let you sightjack animals (definitely dogs, but we're hoping for monkeys and camels too) – which opens up a number of bizarre possibilities. There will also be a variety of vehicles to commandeer, as the quest to discover why the island’s residents have all vanished unfurls. There will be several cities and environments to explore, including a ship-wreck and a fairground.
It all founds fairly standard for a game of this genre, but if SCEJ can avoid the prevalence of trial and error gameplay that spoiled the first Siren title, this could be something quite impressive. There has been no news of the PAL release as yet, but the Japanese version is due for release at some point during 2005.
