Halo 2 Release Date Slips!

Bungie’s hotly anticipated FPS delayed...a little bit.

Posted by Staff
Back in May, we reported that Halo 2 was definitely due for release on November 9. Then, in June, Microsoft made the agreeable announcement that Halo 2 was indeed definitely due for release on November 9. However, today it has been announced that Halo 2 won’t be in UK shops until Thursday, November 11. That’s a whole 48 hours late (Gasp!)

There has been no reason given for this negligible slip, but it’s likely to be something relatively trivial. Perhaps people prefer to buy games on a Thursday, rather than a Tuesday; or perhaps it’s just a cynical attempt to get Halo 2 yet another mention in the news sections of gaming websites. Either way, Halo 2 will be an absolute hit amongst Xbox owners and FPS fans alike, when it gets released, on November 11.

I would have thought the choice of date is obvious... the 11th of the 11th? Ring any bells?

Eesh. It is a nice idea though.

Maybe Microsoft just likes to piss people off?

...it's a possibility.

No they won't. Microsoft have warned the larger chains so far that they are not allowed to sell the game even to their staff before the official release date, and as for the retailers breaking the release date... Microsoft have warned GAME in particular that if it dares to break the release date that it will fine them not only the amount of profit they make from sales of the game but also an extra 50% of that figure. Chances of a broken release date? About as much as GAME saying Halo 2 will be free.
