It is virtually impossible to deny the quality that gushed from every pixel in previous PES games. For many football-devoted gamers, the Pro Evolution Soccer series has been the single most compelling reason to go out and buy a PlayStation 2. Now, finally, Konami has announced that the next PES game will be available not only for PS2 and PC but also the soccer-starved Xbox (cue small Mexican wave in the SPOnG office)!
It had initially been thought that Konami would produce a separate soccer game for the Microsoft console, perhaps taking advantage of Xbox Live, but it is now confirmed that Xbox will receive a version of the same game to be made available on PS2 and PC.
Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is set to feature a number of improvements over previous outings. There’ll be new moves, new tricks, new set-move techniques and a new, more precise dribbling system. The graphics have also been tweaked, with improved player likenesses and kits that gradually become caked in mud as the 90-minute matches progress. The Master League mode has also been extended and enhanced for those lengthy single-player campaigns, and are likely to satisfy even the most fanatical player until the release of the next PES game.
So it’s time to cast aside your melancholy memories of Euro 2004 and look forward to the joyous occasion that is Pro Evolution Soccer 4’s release date, some time in Q4 of this year.
