Jackie Chan readies Eyetoy for September release

Cheeky Kung-Fu chappie heads to PS2.

SCEE has today announced a September release for the PS2 game Jackie Chan Adventures. Based on the cartoon series of the same name, it’s a title with kiddie-friendly tendencies, so unfortunately we won’t be exploring the antics of The Drunken Master or the more frivolous Chan characters of the past. Instead, the adventures revolve around Jackie and his 11 year-old niece Jade as they go in search of bits of Talisman.

For the most part, Jackie Chan Adventures is strikingly unremarkable. The cel-shaded graphics aren’t the finest of their sort, and gameplay seems devoid of any unique identity at this stage. There's plenty of time for improvement though. However, SCEE has confirmed one highly intriguing feature, that being the Eyetoy-powered mini-games that punctuate each level.

As one of the first titles to make ‘casual’ use of the camera peripheral, it will be interesting to note how seamlessly these elements can be incorporated into the larger game environment. We’ll know for sure by autumn.

Actually, the idea of making eye-toy games as opposed to eye-toy minigames sounds really appealing.

A big reason why Mario Party 6 is going to be purchase-worty since it's going to be using an eye-toy like camera.
