New Shellshock Details and Screens

Nightmarish flashbacks continue.

Posted by Staff
Eidos and Guerilla have released more details and screens from their forthcoming Shellshock Nam ‘67 shooter, ahead of its full release at the end of June. As expected, Shellshock is best given a wide berth by those of a sensitive disposition. It’s a gritty business, this jungle warfare. Just like movies that deal with the Vietnam war, Shellshock is necessarily harsh. There are deviously gruesome booby-traps to contend with, leech-filled rivers to wade through and villages full of innocent farm workers to napalm. The cut-scenes too are particularly unpleasant, emphasising the game’s strapline ‘Forget Medals, Forget Honour...’, just slice a dagger through an old chap’s oesophagus.

Shellshock Nam ‘67 will be blanketing PS2, Xbox and PC with a shroud of fiery devastation at the end of next month, at which point we’ll bring you the full lowdown. In the meantime, satisfy your warmongering urges at www.shellshockgame.com

Looks cool, but I'll only buy if the Vietnam people are getting a cut to go towards their lives, and damage done to their country.

Perhaps making games based on real wars is bad, but where should we draw the line? If a conflict is more recent should we remain more cautious of this type of game, or should we play and try to learn from history, and teach a better way. I enjoyed MoH and I will know doubt enjoy Other games like it. I do think games like this could be used in a good way of teaching parts of history, especially to kids who aren't interested in history at all.

Looking good. Hopefully it'll have some cool weapons.

Maybe it is good that it's showing the "real" side of war, not just the one-man hero slaying the "evil" enemies.
