On the day that shall soon become known as ‘The Day When All Those Film-of-the-Game Announcements Were Made’, there has been another game-to-movie declaration, along with news of the Tekken and SpyHunter movies earlier today. However, this time round it’s something altogether more unexpected. Production company Circle Of Confusion is set to make a film based on Death Jr., the star of the forthcoming Sony PSP game.
This does seem slightly peculiar, bearing in mind that Death Jr doesn’t even have a fanbase. In fact, as far as the general public are concerned, he doesn’t even exist. Considering that the Mario and Resident Evil games had huge followings, yet failed to make an impact on cinema audiences, Death Jr. might have its work cut out. We can’t be sure though. Maybe Death Jr is genuinely such an amazing character that he just had to feature in a movie as soon as possible. Or maybe that’s just what the Sony-owned production company would like us to believe. It would certainly help the PSP’s cause if Death Jr was a household name by the time of the handheld’s launch.

This is taking the piss now. I can understand promoting a game but this is becoming stupid now. We don't even know what the bleeding game is about, let alone if it's shiznit or not, and Sony expect me to buy tickets for it's film adaption. LOL
Just imagine going to the flicks, paying your 5-6 quid for the film and you got in there, sitting scoffing pop corn, the film comes on and it's a 5 minute ad for Death Jr. Good exposure perhaps, but I'd want my god damn money back. Fookin stupid, they chose this over the brilliant Syphon Filter series (which has a great story and a 4th game on the way) to make into a movie. An SF movie would be great after the runaway success of Fox's 24. Unbelievable.

If they already have an engine for it, they might as well make a movie. I envision a 5 minute movie much like Pixar does before their feature films.
