The people at Activision must be colossal fans of Spiderman. The company's movie tie-in of the upcoming Spiderman 2 film is heading to every console on the planet, and probably some other ones as well. And now a further two Spiderman games have been announced. One of these is to be based around the long-standing comic franchise, the other on the inevitable Spiderman 3 movie.
The news is hardly a revelation - Activision likes its licenses to stretch endlessly into the future, and this is another example of its quasi-soothsayer abilities. When Spiderman 3 reaches the cinemas in 2007, we could feasibly see game conversions on all of the following systems: PC, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PSP, DS, N-Gage, PS3, Xbox2, GameCube 2, N-Gage 2, next-gen mobile phones, and any other machine that has the technical capabilities to run games (which, by 2007, could possibly include microwaves and electric toothbrushes).

Activision are on their to becoming the next EA. If Spidey goes out on all these formats, thats a lot of quids and bucks. Worth it for the web-slinger I think.
Games based on the Spidey comic universe make more sense than doing a film licence game. Personally i'd like to see Spidey in his original black suit before it became possessed by the alien symbiote, that later became Venom. This would give Peter some inner conflict to deal with. The black suit was never covered in the film, maybe it came later. I can't remember so if anyone knows which came first (black or red and blue suit) let us know.
I know that Spidey has so much bloody story to it, that they should really be thinkin about a bloody tv series, instead of a film every few years. How could it go wrong? CG and special effects are dirt cheap these days. Get the right actors, and it'd be another show like Smallville. And with no competition from Buffy or Angel it should sky rocket.

Well I'm guessing that if there is going to be a Spiderman 3, the movie will have venom in it. After all, out of all the enemies that Spidey has faced, Venom should be the next one. I guess though that there might be a bit of difficulty in trying to write him in. I'm guessing instead of getting infected by an alien symbiote, it'll probably be yet another genetic experiment gone wrong. - maybe some genetically altered algae?
And if I recall correctly, it was the red and blue suit that came first before the black.
There was a spiderman TV show, but from the pictures I've seen of it, it did look a tad dodgy. Still, a spidey TV show a bit like smallville sounds interesting.

The spidey TV show was 70's or 80's, tho. I think he means a new one.

I was surprised by Smallville as I didn't expect it to b that good. The meteor shower giving other folk different powers was an interesting angle, but started to get tired. Things really started to heat up in season 2 though. I've just recently finished watching season 3 via BT(www.torrents.co.uk), and I have to say it bloody brilliant stuff. Can hardly wait for season 4.
I think a new Spiderman tv series is the next step in the ladder. There's just too much ground to cover in a few films. TV is the way to go. Then we could get to see Electro-man and Carnage, Vulture and Rhino.
