One of the few GBA titles to be shown off at E3, news of Metal Slug Advance will be like 16-bit music to the ears of arcade and retro enthusiasts. Arguably the best side-scrolling weapon-infused 2D platformer series ever, the Metal Slug 1,2,3,4,5 and X games have exuded quality and charm by the bucket load.
Now that this joy is to be squeezed onto a GBA cart, the opportunity to embark on some manic shooting and jumping-based activities cannot be overlooked. The NeoGeo Pocket enjoyed a scaled down Metal Slug game, but its technical limitations put severe constraints on the conversion process. Hopefully the GBA should just be able to cope with the high-paced action.
Metal Slug Advance should be clanking and slithering onto shelves later this year.
