Nearly drowning in the tidal wave of E3 revelations, screenshots of the wondrous Viewtiful Joe sequel had sadly gone unmentioned. In an effort to put that right, here’s further information on the insane anime-influenced 2D hardcore platformer.
The first bit of good news is that the original Viewtiful Joe game has made the transition to PS2 - despite Capcom’s presentation of it as a Gamecube exclusive - fairly seamlessly. There are a few tasty additions, such as new unlockable characters, but the rest remains happily untouched. The unique VJ style will be bringing madness to the PS2 masses towards the end of this year.
For Cube owners who are already well acquainted with the first title, news of Viewtiful Joe 2 should already be stimulating the ‘Eeeek!’ excitement gland. Not because VJ2 offers a revolutionary twist, but because it doesn’t, it’s just like the first game - only with different levels – a sequel in the most old fashioned sense.
The wonderfully charismatic Viewtiful Joe 2 will be released on both PS2 and Gamecube, although specific release dates are yet to be confirmed. We’ll let you know.
