Sega's E3 announcement "of little interest to fans"
We have learned over the past 24 hours that Sega's E3 announcement "has been blown out of all proportion" according to a Sega insider speaking yesterday.

Speaking off the record, our contact said, "...in terms of [Sega’s hardcore fans] I don’t think it will be as interesting as you may have been led to believe in recent days," he said.

It’s worth noting that it was Sega of America's press office that ignited the fuse of what has been dubbed SegaTon, mockingly named after the huge Nintendo "Megaton" non-announcement of 2002. SoA published a press release for its "Explosive Announcement Event" that read, "Learn about SEGA's 2004 line-up and hear BIG news you'd NEVER guess! Explosive news - something even YOU won't be able to guess."

Whether Sega is poised to announce platform exclusivity, or something crushingly mundane, we’ll find out in due course, hopefully before the scheduled announcement next week.

Not a re-entry into the console market then. :)

Although I have to say, announcing platform exclusivity would not be mundane, especially if they were getting into bed with Micro$oft.

It doesn't say that platform exclusivity would be mundane, but that SEGA could announce exclusivity OR something utterly mundane.

I do hope Sega Announce Exclusivity to Microsoft...I hate all the multiformat titles they bring out. having all Sega titles on one machine would be great for all gamers. And cheaper.

Though its unlikely...no doubt just a way to get everyones attention before E3 show so there new games get lots of exposure.

Basically put "Buckle your seat belts and get ready for a disapointment"

Who cares, SEGA haven't done anything good for ages. Sonic Heroes - crap. I bought it based on the "Sonic" name on the box, having spent many months playing Sonic and Sonic 2 all those years ago, only to find a **** game.

It'll probably be Crazy Taxi 4: A Green Taxi!

How would producing titles for only one platform be great for gamers? Not all gamers own or would choose to own an Xbox.

Would you say the same if Sega announced exclusivity for Gamecube?

Cheaper for gamers? You're in cloud cuckoo land if you think that any publisher would reduce prices because anything reduces their costs. Dollar (or Yen/Euro) signs in their eyes, they'd be dreaming of their increased profits.
