News coming direct from Activision in the US this morning has revealed that the Xbox version of Doom III will see a hefty slice of online gaming via Microsoft's increasingly essential Xbox Live online gaming service.
At a press event held in California yesterday, New York-based Vicarious Visions showed the game running in two player co-operative mode using two remote machines, surely a killer USP for the delightful-looking console version of id Software's latest iteration of the first-person shooter. As you may know, this mode will not feature in the PC version of the hotly anticipated game, though you can bet your bottom dollar that the PC fraternity will be planning something to rectify this almost as soon as the game is released.
Speaking yesterday, sources at both id and Activision (id Software’s long-suffering publisher) confirmed that both versions of the game will be released this year.
