Final Fantasy XI and PS2 Hard Drive set for Europe!
It has been revealed that the long lusted after PlayStation 2 hard drive will see a release in Europe, following successful roll-outs in Japan and the US.

The news comes from Sony as part of its 'soon to be announced' Christmas push, that also sees the release of Final Fantasy XI, the HD-reliant online RPG from Square Enix. Many have doubted that the game and its essential peripheral would see a European release, with gossip fuelled in the main by SCEE's total silence on the issue.

Both the hard drive and Final Fantasy XI will be on sale across Europe in time for Christmas 2004. Pricing and an exact release date remain undisclosed at this time, though both are expected to be revealed at E3.

"Desired for so long" that many people have lost interest, I think. Also, it's once again something which concerns only the bourgeois half of Europe who have online access, so more than half of us "Europeans" won't be getting it anyway...

I feel this is long overdue. A lot of hardcore fans already have an import version. For those not hardcore, people might be confused with XI and XII on the way. Atleast FF series is doing one good thing, teachin folk how to read roman numerals. All good in the FF hood.

Well this has come too late for me. I already have FFXI and already bored of it now. It simply won't be worth paying £80 for a hardrive and FFXI, not for me anyway. Specially at a time when so many new AAA games will be out. I can see this selling loads, but I definatly wont be buying it now.

I'm afraid this is wrong. www.square-enix-europe.com have no announcement about releasing that game in Europe. Neither does any SCEE site announce the HDD.

In fact, There is no authoritive source on the entire internet that announce a release of either product for Europe.
