It would appear that the first game revealed as being part of Sega's "significantly large and high profile" new games roll-out will be an update in the Phantasy Star Online series.
Regular readers will know that we revealed on March 24 that Sega had slated two private showings of a wide range of new software. Dubbed "Sega New Work Private Meeting 2004 Spring", the meetings will take place in Tokyo April 7-9, followed by an Osaka showing on April 13-14, wherein a considerable amount of new games, including some key franchises, will be shown. The first of these to be uncovered is a Phantasy Star Online update.
This news would now appear to be backed up by the Japanese gaming press. The latest issue of Dorimaga carries a page claiming that in its next issue, scheduled to go on sale across Japan on April 23, it will reveal "significant" information about the future of the series.
In other news, the chances of seeing a new home console Sonic game took something of a tumble, with Japanese sources dashing the idea of the blue one making a retail appearance at any point during the fiscal year.
