Capcom US has announced an impressive Street Fighter Medley carrying the title Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, a two disc set featuring Hyper Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, exclusively for the PlayStation 2.
As well as including both beloved coin-op stalwarts, a ton of extras such as gallery mode, soundtrack playback and character biographies will also feature.
However, the bad news is that this pack finally seals the online fate of Street Fighter III:3rd Strike, with the game seeing no network play, thus dashing the hopes of gamers who had longed to get the Naomi and then Dreamcast classic playing over the Internet.
This morning, we can reveal that this pack will not be released in Europe at any point, with Capcom's PAL gamers seeing the rather enticing launch of Hyper Street Fighter II, complete with the 1995 anime movie Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. It's worth pointing out that this is the Street Fighter movie that is actually pretty good, complete with its now-infamous shower scene and still fetches around £20 in some stores.
What’s more, the European fate of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is still undecided we were told today. "As of this point in time, we have not decided whether or not 3rd Strike will be released for Europe," stated a Capcom spokesman.
We’ll keep you updated.
