Samurai Spirits Zero Special: Final Pre-release screens

Neo Geo swansong - Last MVS game ever...

Posted by Staff
SNK Playmore Japan has released a batch of screens taken from the final build of Samurai Spirits Zero Special, the update to the MVS katana slash (or bust) em up as released earlier this year.

As well as some bug fixes, the speed and balance of the game and characters have been adjusted, following widespread disapproval of the original. We are assured that Special will be a far more accessible and playable affair - all good.

What isn't that good is the fact that Samurai Spirits Zero Special will be the last game to be released on the antiquated Neo Geo MVS system, and probably the last game for the AES home console, which is a crying shame and the end of an era.

Samurai Spirits, top class game. So this is the final AES hack n' slash, what a shame. I still remember years ago when I first witnessed this game on Gamesmaster. SS is amazing to watch or play, and in a league of it's own. It's possible that SNK's decision to rest the Neo Geo/AES etc, may have to do with game rom data being ripped from consumer carts/arcade boards, and then put online for others to pilfer. Updating the technology fixes the problem.....for now atleast. Lets hope the series continues, if the old system doesn't.
