Good news today as Sega finally confirms development of Virtua Fighter 5, the latest instalment of the seminal 3D fighter that has muscled its way to the top of the Japanese coin-operated gaming scene.
Indeed, senior AM-2 producer Makoto Osaki has stated to Japanese press that the game is well into development, though no prospective launch date was mentioned.
Another detail that fans of the series - and of Sega - will no doubt be mulling over is the prospective platform the game will run on. Sega has so much to choose from it boggles the mind. VF5 could be released for Naomi 2, perhaps even the in-development Naomi 3. It could opt for TriForce, or even the Xbox-based Chihiro hardware.
It’s all good news, we’re sure beat ‘em up fans and Sega supporters will agree. Expect updates in the coming weeks and a deeper look at the game at E3 this May.
