Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi has this morning confirmed that the coin-op Ollie King will run on the Xbox-based Chihiro arcade system, leading to predictable chatter that points towards an Xbox version hitting the home console market.
For reference, Ollie King is the recently revealed skateboarding game presented in cell-shaded loveliness, to be confirmed as being in development at Sega’s Amusement Vision studio.
Headed up by Monkey Ball man Nagoshi, Ollie King will be developed by the team responsible for the seminal Jet Set Radio series, as recently amalgamated into AV as part of Sega’s recent studio reshuffle.
Speaking to Sega today we were told quite categorically that Ollie King is not due for release at any point in the next 12 months, which is disappointing if true.
In other news, Sega has been annoyingly coy over exactly what Yu Suzuki’s latest project is. Sega Japan has announced that an arcade outing called Quest of D will be shown at the firm’s private coin-op show, due to take place in Tokyo in December. “Sorry to sound like a broken record, but we don't know anything about it,” was the official word.
All very interesting, we’ll bring you any breaking news.
