Virtua Fighter Quest – The GameCube dream lives on!

Big head RPG still underway – Sega makes commitment.

Speaking in the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Dorimaga, Sega’s Yu Suzuki sought to reassure fans that the impressively illusive Virtua Fighter Quest is still underway.

“Although we have seen major changes at Sega in recent times, the development of our key games has not been altered,” explained Suzuki, who at this moment in time is perhaps the most under-rated developer on the planet. “Virtua Fighter Quest is still being made, there was no break in the production. At Sega, Virtua Fighter is seen as one of our most important franchises, so the game must be exactly right.”

It's all good. However, don’t hold your breath for VF Quest popping up on Sega’s release schedule any time soon.

The first we heard of VF Quest was when Suzuki seemingly accidentally revealed the game, as well as certain details such as the super-deformed look of the characters, several E3's ago, and since then a wall of silence has surrounded it.

It was expected - perhaps somewhat over-optimistically - to be on show in some form at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, but was conspicuous by its absence.

Perhaps an E3 unveiling next year is planned. We’ll continue to pester Sega and keep you updated with any developments.
