Given that even after Gran Turismo 3 went on general release, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe was categorically denying the existence of Formula One cars in the game, any kind of flat content denials regarding the series’ successor must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Indeed yesterday, SCEE’s wonderfully named Simon Rutter made the following comment regarding the possibility of motorbikes in GT4. “There are categorically no motorbikes in GT4.” Now change motorbikes for Formula One cars and you have yourself a two-year text timewarp…

As readers will know, the talk of motorbikes began with an American motor-press trip to Japan, where Polyphony developers and test riders were seen putting laps down on bikes, as well as treating them to the full telemetric rolling road treatment, as enjoyed by every car featured in the game.

What’s more, SCEJ staff hinted that bikes would be included, mentioning specifically a bonus section…

We’ll have to see when the game is released and subsequently busted open by the GT obsessives.
