Pop Idol comes to GBA

We reckon Paula Abdul would have fallen at the first hurdle...

There's another series of the mildly-entertaining, sporadically-amusing Pop Idol coming to TV next month, and to coincide with this, ahem, momentous event, Codemasters has announced Pop Idol: The Official Video Game for Nintendo Game Boy Advance. Already confirmed for PC and PlayStation 2, Pop Idol lets the player assume the role of a budding singing superstar in a timing and rhythm-based game experience. Match the button-press instructions on screen during well-known tunes such as 'Like a Virgin', 'Let Me Entertain You' and 'Baby One More Time', and your character sings beautifully. Get your fingers in a twist, and you can expect some disparaging remarks from the judges, and a swift exit from the competition.

Pop Idol: The Official Video Game is due for release in November, so when all the novelty acts have been excluded from the TV show, you can replay some of the most toe-curlingly bad moments at your leisure. May we at this point remind GBA SP owners that there's no headphone socket on the console, so be considerate and keep it down, eh?
