GameCube price slashed by £50
As of October 10, Nintendo’s GameCube console will retail in shops for a mere £79. The move brings the UK price point for the console in line with the recent US price cut, reported last week.

European Director of Sales and Marketing David Gosen comments: “There has never been a better time to get a GameCube and with this new price we want every household to have one. Our range of games has something for everyone and we know people love to play them. At the same time the industry has honoured these games with awards for innovation and excellent gameplay. If you are new to gaming or have been playing for years, then at this great price you simply can’t afford not to have a GameCube.”

The Japanese giant also emphasised its stellar Christmas line-up once again, with Mario Kart: Double Dash, 1080 Avalanche, F-Zero GX, Viewtiful Joe and Billy Hatcher all due in the next couple of months.

And if that wasn’t enough, the company is also expanding its £19.99 Player’s Choice range with the addition of Super Mario Sunshine, Starfox Adventures, Mario Party 4 and Metroid Prime.

Nintendo’s objective is clear, but whether or not GameCube will steal any of the limelight in the run-up to Christmas remains to be seen. Regardless, there has never been a better time to get your mitts on a GameCube.
