Game Boy Advance gets SMS
Nintendo Japan is set launch a pager add-on for Game Boy Advance in the coming six months, it has been revealed, with the massive-selling portable poised to deliver SMS pager functionality as well as PDA functionality.

In filing a patent in both the US and Japan, Nintendo has named its add-on the Pocket Bell. As you may know pocket bell is a direct translation of the Japanese name for a pager.

Woo!

It clips on to the top of the SP and will deliver as yet undisclosed personal digital organiser capabilities, as well as being able to receive (at least) SMS pager messages.

As to whether this will see light of day outside of Japan remains to be seen. We’ll keep an eye out and let you know.
