Sega has released some more details about the much-anticipated Outrun 2 arcade game, currently in development for the Xbox-based Chihiro system. As mentioned before, it has now been confirmed that the game will feature four modes: Outrun mode, which will be the basic arcade mode, similar to the original, Time Attack mode, a Versus mode, using linked cabinets, and a quest mode dubbed 'Heart Attack mode'. The latter sees players selecting their preferred lady friend to ride alongside, while they act as chauffeur and follow her commands.
Remaining faithful to the original, Outrun mode retains the famous 'branching off' level structure, beginning in Palm Beach and then offering a choice of either Deep Lake or Alpine for the second stage. It is not as yet clear what is to follow further into the game but it's safe to say you can expect a wide variety of international locales, along with varying driving conditions and times of day. Perhaps we'll have realtime weather thrown into the mix this time?
With regard to the actual vehicles in Outrun 2, of the several cars available for driving, three have been confirmed by Sega: the F50, the 365GTS/4 and the Dino 246GT. At the wheel will be a slick 25-year old chap called Alberto and riding shotgun will be his girlfriend Jennifer, apparently the owner of the car.
The arcade is still on target for a winter release and a subsequent Xbox release is more than likely. Hopefully, if you take the route left, right, left, right you'll be given a magic lamp and when you rub it, some really hot chicks appear.
