Tomb Raider Jeep - very limited edition
You may remember that in the afterglow of the first Tomb Raider movie, Land Rover announced a deal that saw customised Lara Rovers hit forecourts around the world.

It's a surprise to no-one that the TR endorsement deal - a deal that, in all fairness didn’t exactly set the world of off-road sales alight - fell through, with Jeep, the true inventor of the 4X4, providing the film sequel's four-wheeled transport this time around, and releasing the limited edition TR2 Jeep Wrangler.

“To create our vehicle we took design cues from the film's Jeep Wrangler Rubicon," said Craig Hardie, Sales and Marketing Manager, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge. “Our specialised vehicle is no less capable than the film's off-road star and features after-market components used by many off-road enthusiasts in the region and unique never-before-seen custom features.”

A mere 70 models of the TR2 Jeep will hit various retail outlets throughout the Middle East, with a global roll-out under consideration dependent on initial interest.

As a stand-alone story, we don’t think that this is that interesting. But when viewed in the wider context, it’s absolutely incredible. A game series spawned a film series that is now into its second generation of licensing deals with a major auto manufacturer for a spin-off vehicle. A vehicle! Not a lunchbox, not a set of trading cards, a £45,000 vehicle!

Amazing.
