Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has officially been announced as the fastest selling Xbox game ever. It managed to shift a hefty 250,000 units within four days of its US release, even though sales have since slowed down. This rapid retailing is largely thanks to the extreme loyalty of Star Wars fans: there’s a considerable hardcore who actually need games like this the very moment they hit the shops. It also goes to show that the Microsoft console deserves some more RPG’s (the only other one released is Morrowind) especially as Fable’s release date keeps slipping away.
Reviews for the US version of the game have been extremely positive so far. KOTOR is certainly the most impressive RPG on the Xbox, with many regarding it as the finest RPG on any system. And it’s based on the Star Wars franchise. This should mean a similar customer response when Knights of the Old Republic is released in Europe around September time.
