Press struggle to restrain smirks as Doom III leaves radar
Activision has today announced that the massively anticipated FPS Doom III from id Software has been delayed, leaving this year and ending up in the first quarter of 2004.

It's no secret, (in fact quite the reverse) that id Software is an ego melting pot, with the developer taking a famously bullish stance towards publisher Activision.

Several industry commentators have today pointed towards id's recent toys-out-the-pram episode over several leaked Quake images that surfaced last weekend. It is thought that id should perhaps concentrate on delivering its software, rather than making girlie threats over a set of images that did nothing other than please fans of the series.
