Polygon today carries an excellent tale relating to the future of Sony’s presidency and, in particular, how the PlayStation creator, one Mr Ken Kutaragi, is viewed by the old guard of directors at Sony.
According to the report: “Albeit groomed by former Sony chairman Norio Ohga, Kutaragi-san is reportedly viewed as a maverick by the company's old guard. In fact, despite being promoted to deputy president of Sony and placed in charge of the company's broadband services division earlier this spring, Kutaragi-san's focus remains squarely on the PlayStation brand. When asked about his plans recently, Kutaragai-san responded, “I'm focused strictly on videogames.””
What’s more, Sony’s shareholders, impressed by Kutaragi’s success and the fact that his offspring Computer Entertainment division is the most profitable arm of the firm by a considerable margin, want to see the man appointed as president of the whole caboodle.
Interesting stuff.
