Speaking to press in Tokyo recently, the development team behind the hushed up R: Racing Evolution at Namco broke their silence, with producers Isao Nakamura and Hideo Teramoto explaining what we can expect from the firm’s latest offering.
The development team is a mixture of MotoGP and Ridge Racer developers and the game will reflect this. A mixture of simulation gaming and arcade racing was promised, which should satisfy fans of both genres.
The game will centre on an in-depth and involving story mode a la TOCA Race Driver, with the player assuming the role of a female driver. Carrying the title Racing Life, this will see rivalries between characters overshadow competition between the various cars.
Namco also promised that a slew of real-life cars from various manufacturers will be included, hinting heavily that a massive stable of motors will be available for your driving pleasure.
Also promised was a large amount of FMV sequences, rendered by the award-winning Tekken CG team.
We’ll bring you more, including a hands-on with R: Racing Evolution, as soon as possible.
